    I know a lad who bought a Carrera and was out doing a 100km spin with him last weekend. Seems to be a decent enough bike, and he had no problems with it.
    The model you're looking at has the 2300 deraileurs and shifters though. If you could stretch to a bike with a Sora or even a Tiagra groupset it'd be better, IMHO.

    Was in Halfords Lucan the other day. Nearly positive I saw a Carrera Vanquish on sale there for E500. Maybe give them a ring if you can stretch to that price (very well equipped bike for that money)... in fact... wheres my CC...
