    Not Your Ornery Onager

This won't affect the test result. Only airbag and ABS lights on are a fail, afaik.

The only way to turn it off is to have whatever fault your car has repaired.

The light being on won't effect your NCT result but the actual fault might.

I'm told the only way to get the light to turn off us to get it reset at a main ford dealer and that it can be expensive even if it is a small job. The fault has being fixed but light remains on. Anyway thanks for the info . Esel that's a weight off my mind thanks

Any half decent diagnostic tool should be able to reset it.

    What was the fault?

Neither of those things would cause the engine warning light to come on.

First thing on your list should be a new mechanic by the sounds of it.

Is it the engine warning light or an oil light?

Low oil wont have an effect on it. My guess is yours a 2 litre diesel? Maybe the EGR valve was clogged up and he cleaned it out??? Could have been a disconnected plug either.
