I have exactly the same issue. Want to sync business contacts / calender from work laptop and want to sync music / photos from private laptop.
I've set up the syncing on itunes on both laptops so that it will only sync the relevant items but when I try to sync music from private laptop it tells me that I can only sync with one computer (or one itunes) itunes on each laptop is configured to the same itunes a/c
Surely this is a common requirment for people who use their iphone for work?
Haven't tried / heard of homesharing so maybe that's part of my problem.
Will eagerly watch this post for news - hope you don't mind me piggybacking pearlmi :)

Well, it is very straight forward procedure. When you sync the iphone to your computer and when you click on your iphone setting in the itunes, there is option given to uncheck videos, music, apps, etc; so all you need to do is just unckeck the things that you do not want to sync in the computer and only the checked things will be synced in the computer.
If it still can't work, you may refer to this article How to transfer iPhone Contacts, SMS, Calendar,Notes & Call History ,it also include transfering music.Hope it could help u.

Thanks, I've clicked the relevent boxes in each computer - synch only calendar and contacts on my work computer and synch only itunes and photos on my private computer. Works fine when I connect to my (usual) work computer but as soon as I connect to 2nd computer it says "No you cannot synch with more than one itunes computer - Yes, itunes accounts on both computers are set to the same username / password.
So the issue is not which buttons to click for synch setup but how to synch with 2 computers - on an ongoing basis.

    Any ideas?

PS my iphone isn't jailbroken, nor do I intend to jail break it.

Thanks Chris, this seems to be a useful method for copying itunes from one place to another or for use as an alternative interface to an iPod/iPhone.
Are you saying that it isn't possible to synch an iPhone with 2 sets of itunes? - even if they are the same ituens a/c
Are you suggesting that I should synch work stuff using iTunes on work PC and then seperatly synch music using ephpod on private pc?
I have a lot of mp4 music on dvds, can I upload these to ephpod do you know? Also can I purchase music via ephpoh?
    Thanks for the help.
