Driving in EU whilst disqualified

My OH recently got disqualified from driving as a result of a drink driving case. We're planning on going to Spain next year on holidays so I'm wondering does the driving ban cover Europe or is it limited to Irish roads?

The driving ban effects his license. So, if he has a ban on her license, he effectively has no license, therefore can't legally drive in Europe.

Your OH has been disqualified from holding a Driving Licence in this country.
Does he /she hold an Irish Licence or one from another country?

No he doesn't hold another licence. So to clarify, the ban is effectively a ban from driving and from holding a driving licence thereby prohibiting him from driving on all roads, e.g. rental car in Spain?

You can't rent a car without a license. The license holds the disqualification.

So, no, you're OH can't drive in Spain.

He's banned from holding a licence, in order to drive a rental car in Spain he must produce his licence when renting the car.

If he's banned from holding a licence, he doesn't have one to produce to the car rental company in Spain and therefore cannot even rent a car in Spain, let alone drive it.

Is a driving ban in Ireland upheld in the rest of Europe ?
I think that if you are banned here then you are automatically banned in the rest of Europe, i could be wrong though.

I don't think it's anything to do with the ban itself. It's the lack of a valid licence that hinders you driving.

Thanks for all the replies. Think I was confused because he still has his actual licence but the judge postponed the ban until the 1st of November next so presumably he will hand in his licence at that stage.

So it looks like I'm stuck driving on holidays :(
