bmw e39 eats rear tyre

Last night I got a flat rear tyre. The outside of the tyre looked fine, plenty of thread. The inside was down to the wire.
Completely uneven wear. I've read that incorrect camber and worn bushings can cause this so the plan is to ..

    1. Replace bushings
    2. Buy new tyres
    3. Get good laser alignment done

Should this sort the problem? Can anyone recommend a place in Dublin that can carry out this work and has good alignment equipment?

On a side note it took a mechanic and a 6ft iron bar to take the flat wheel off the hub. The alloy was nearly welded onto it.

inner tyre wear is classic rear balljoint symptoms.

Dave mcCann in blanch is supposed to be the man for aligning bmws.

    For the mechanicals try :
    Scully autocare in clontarf
    3Rock in sandyford
    Chelmsford motors in Ranalagh

    @ muckeyw,

People do not need to PM you if they are stuck. Items should be discussed out in the open in the forum ideally. I have had to edit posts in the past that you were looking for PM's from. Being a mechanic you can see how this may be perceived by others as a shill.

    Thanks

There are several possible issues regarding bushes and ball joints thet need to be checked/rectified first.

As regards geometry setting it is absolutely ESSENTIAL that weights are added to the car before any adjustment is done. Failure to do this results in premature tyre wear due to excessive negative camber - common on E39's.

I'd second Dave McCann in Blanchardstown.

Ended up going to Scullys in Fairview.
New tires + suspsensioney bits + service
    Very impressed with their setup...
