Wife just bought a car from dealer. What documentation does she need to get Car registration ownership cert? Car has a couple of weeks of tax left on it so she needs to tax it soon. How does the owner transfer work?

You should get it within a couple of weeks from Shannon, dealer should have sent it to them for your name to be put on a new document and then it's posted out. You should put the reg in to this site to see if there's been a change of ownership recorded, if not contact the dealer asap. https://www.motortax.ie/PSE

Dealer should have the old registration document with the car (its called the Vehicle Licensing Cert), when your wife goes to collect the new car the dealer should ask her to sign the change of ownership section of the old Vehicle Licensing Cert. The dealer will then send it off to the Department of Transport in Shannon, Co Clare. They will update their system and post a new Vehicle Licensing Cert to you. It takes a few weeks for this but the car will then be registered to your wife. You will then be able to tax the car.
