I bought a license for Windows 7 home premium 32bit 2 years ago and have been using it since. I'd like to install windows 7 64 bit home premium, does anyone know do I need to buy a new license for this, or will the license key I currently have work for it?

If you have the discs it will be fine. I did just that and used the same licence key and was activated successfully.

I downloaded the 32bit version from digital river at the time. Is there any legal means to get a copy of the 64bit version, and use my own keycode?

As far as I know downloading windows 7 from digital river is legal. As ashleey pointed out you should be fine in regards to activating it.
