Optical Express - Optilase?

I went for a consultation with Optical Express at the end of April. The person I dealt with said to give them a call when I was ready for an appointment.

Have been trying to contact them since last week and keep getting various people saying they'll call me back etc. Today I got the customer care callers, and the guy told me that if I wanted an appointment now I needed to go for another consultation.

It was never explained to me that after 12 weeks, another consultation was needed. So going all the way back to Dundrum from Ashbourne is inconvenient. On top of all that, the girl I was working with is off, and they can't find me in the system, it's fairly frustrating.

I'm thinking of just going with Optilase and hoping it isn't a big price difference.
Has anyone here gone with them and would they recommend Optilase?

(Sorry for the length of the post!)

Not surprised to hear you've had problems with Optical Express. Not the best reputation in the market.

I was very nervous about getting the operation and asked around before going for Optilase (based on a recommendation from a doctor who said they had the best doctors).

you can get a 100 euro discount on Optilase here

By the way, you won't regret it - no more glasses!

Sorry for the delay on responding, busy weekend! :)

I may try with Optilase, it's just added hassle with the other guys and it's supposed to be a positive thing.

Thank you for such a helpful answer!

i had a consultation with optilase last year, seemed really professional to me.
i didnt have the dollar to go through with it at the time, but am now in a position to look again as i have few scheckles tucked away.

it is frustrating that they say crap like 495 per eye which is just codswallop by the time you get a quote. I'm -5.25 so pretty blind!!! Optilase wanted something like 3.5k last year when i got my consultation done.

So i figured I'd ring the other crowd OE for a price, they wouldnt give me one without a consultation. i do understand that I need to get another consultation done but why cant they at least tell you their actual prices....

TBH I wouldn't go near Optilase. Very rushed and not very thorough. I spent only 10 minutes at the pre-op with not much information and when I asked any questions I was told to "ask the girls downstairs!"

I would much rather go somewhere that wasn't so sales driven.
