Have a 2007 Kia Ceed 1.6 crdi,80000km on clock.Garage I normally go to has been doing services roughly every 10000km,thats what they recommend.Could I get away with service every 12-15000km?Bit cash strapped but obviously dont want to wreck the engine.I do over 20k km per year.

every 8-10k miles is recomended but you would get away with 12-13k if yuor not pulling heavy loads or driving too fast. when changing oil use semi syntetic oil its good for engine and will get you the extra 3/4k your looking for

The service intervals for the Kia 1.6crdi are every 20k or 1 year.

If you've been having it serviced properly according to the schedual up untill now(to keep the warranty) then at 80k/4 years its due and oil and filter change, air filter change and brake fluid change as well as the normal checks. This shouldn't be an expensive service.

I have a 1.6TDCi ford focus. I usually get it serviced at the local indie garage and they always puts 12k KM interval on it.

Ford main dealer was having a promo on servicing lately and it was cheaper than my indie and as I was due a service I dropped it in to them. They put 20k KM interval on it. I checked the invoice and their was no mention of long life oil or anything extra on it!

Never thought I would be big upping a main dealer but a cheaper service and longer interval - Win / Win.

The service intervals for every car type and engine type are different.

Our diesel 159 has service intervals of 35000k in it which seems odd...

is the car a turbo OP? in relation to the 15,000km service interval, there is a reason these massive service intervals are given, mainly to make them look attractive to companies when they are buying fleets! Was with a German mechanic the other day and he said often when changing oil with "long service interval" cars the oil comes out like jelly! Op if your changing oil regularly, you could just start doing it yourself... Alternatively I know a very cheap and good mechanic, let me know if you want his contact details...

    we have a mixed grill ...nissan 2 toyota 2 skoda 1 mitshi1 ford 1

my indy mechanic recommends 20k kms service intervals for all

all are aged and no warranty implications apply

Which means it is a turbo....A modern variable geometry turbo too so oil maintenance is very important.

If you are really stuck, try to get the oil changed at least, the rest can be left for a little while, but also bare in mind that you will no longer have your 7 year warranty.

I know ford recommened a 20k km's but these engines Need oil and filter at least every 15km or it could cost you alot in the long run.
Also 5w 30 fully syn oil needs to be used on these.

Sorry O.P. Not sure about the Kia 1.6crdi...

Why would I still not have 7 year warranty?I get it serviced in a local family run garage but they use KIA parts for all my services.I rang KIA Ireland before, they said this is ok once they use genuine KIA parts.

If you don't get the correct service items done at the correct time and/or mileage then Kia can void the warranty.

+1 on this. I have a Kia Carens 2.0CRDi, great little motor. I get her serviced at my local Kia dealer, roughly the same price for a service as any independent lads in my area. Kia are fantastic on standing over warranty issues but you must keep to the service intervals as set out. I've had two warranty claims on my car, first was the clutch at 50,000k's which they stood over as I had earlier reported what I felt to be a problem but the garage couldn't reproduce the fault. Second was the CD player when it chewed up the kids "In The Night Garden" cd. To be honest I nearly felt like paying Kia for doing that for me!!!!:D:D

I've lost my Kia manual so I dont know the service intervals.I do have the service record booklet and its been serviced roughly every 12-14,000km.My garage just writes whats on the clock at every service and stamps it.Is my warranty still valid?
