Sorry if this has been asked before but I was wondering if it was possible to connect two audio sources to a single pair of speakers. At the moment I have my amp connected to my Wharfdale Diamond 9.1s. These speakers have to capability for biwiring but instead of using the spare plugs for this purpose could I connect seperate speaker cable from by Denon CD player which has its own built in amp? I wouldn't be operating the external amp and the CD player at the same time.
    Thanks.

    Yup, it's been asked before.
You can't have 2 amps connected at the same time.
Bi wiring is irrelevant. That is for use with amps that feed the speakers high and low frequencies separately, not for connecting 2 amps to.

    Thanks for the reply
Could you explain why you can't connect two amps? If one amp isn't turned on then presumably there is no signal being sent through those wires.
    (just asking out of curiousity)

You risk putting audio back into the unused amps outputs.
Also the amp in use may see the output impedance of the unused amp as well as the speakers.
I think you can buy a selector switch which allows you to switch in either amp A or B to the speakers.
Can you not just take a line out from the CD player and run it through the amp?

    Hey, thanks for that.
Yeah I've just run a phono cable from the CD players output on the rear. The only reason I was thinking of using the speaker cable was that I could operate the cd player without having to have the main amp on as well. Was just gonna use that for the mixer and decks. Thanks again for your input :)
