Setanta's Premier League Goals App

Never felt too compelled to post a thread of my own here, and not 100% if it's relevant, but I think people here are the captive audience, so felt compelled to post.

If you were watching Liverpool V. Sunderland you'll have noticed approximately 20 plugs for this new app that has been created by Setanta. It makes a lot of claims, and sounds pretty decent - premier league results and goals as they happen, push alerts to your phone when anything major happens to a particular team and - crucially - videos 'almost instantly' available after each goal.

For this app, for the season, it's 7.99. A bit steep, and should give you pause for thought. When I got it during the match, there were no reviews, so I was curious.

Instant goals? Forget about it. It's Wednesday now, and the videos still aren't available. Push alerts? Nope. Unless nothing happened in any of the subsequent matches on Sunday and Monday. Scores? Ha, this is the best one. At half-time on Saturday, there were no scores in any of the matches. By 7pm, this was still true.

It's an absolute crock of an app, and a rip off at that. I know it's only 8 quid but - christ - don't throw it away, get some chicken wings and enjoy a free app that can do a few of these things (and better) and doesn't make any grand claims.

Thanks for the heads up, on this topic what apps do people use?

I use Eurosports one a lot, very good so it is compared to others I've used.

Good idea to expand the thread Mark - probably should've framed it that way to give it a wider appeal!

I'm a bit lax when it comes to searching out free apps for footie; was hoping to pay my way out of the problem!

Eurosport is the best one I have; Sky Sports one is fine - does the job. Checking BBC or Guardian Livetext isn't great.

To be honest, I find checking twitter the most reliable way of going about it - which is senseless. Someone could dominate this if they did it well...

LiveScore is the best app if you're just after up to the minute scorelines.
