downloading photos from Samsung Galaxy

I am attempting to download some photos from my Samsung Galaxy and it is not allowing me, when I connect the USB cable it tells me to select a program to launch this action but there is no program to select - vodafone weren't much help when I called them. Advice needed if possible. Thanks.

connect the phone as a usb storage and copy the photos to your pc.
