Problem with item from US

    Hi there! I've recently purchased a watch at amazon.com. I know I have to pay the VAT for it, I've used the vatcalculator.

    My problem is that my item was sent 2 weeks ago, and tracking it using USPS it only shows "in transfer to destination" that was over 10 days ago.

    I've contacted the seller, and he told me that probably it is on customs and have not being processed by the local mail so it does not shows on USPS website.

    My question is: How long does it usually takes for customs to allow an item to enter? Is it possible to check if the item is waiting to be processed or it has not arrived at all?

    Check the tracking number on An Post's website.

    Won't work, It was sent from USPS. At least it's not in an-post database anyways.
    My main concern is if is this item stuck at customs here in ireland, or some problem happened during the transit of shipping.

    The tracking number would work here, if it has arrived. It would also indicate that it is in customs, if it was.

    If there is nothing showing, then An Post haven't accepted it yet. I would go with it still being in transit, or lost.

    it takes 6 - 10days tops.

    I bought an item on a thursday which was sent out on friday.
    I got it on tuesday.

    NO tax no duties.
