    Hrmmm...

Sister in law had a bog standard one - 05.

    It had an immobiliser.

You could always hot wire it and find out :)

Well, I need to be 100% sure otherwise my insurance company won't cover me if anything happens.

Does anyone know how I can be 100% if the car has an immobiliser or not?

    It definitely has one.

If you want to triple check, I'd expect there's an immobiliser light on your dashboard (check your manual). This will light up and then extinguish when you start the car. Then you definitely know for double definite. :)
