So the thumb drive still doesn't appeal to Leopard and Tiger users?

Has this OS stabilised yet? I've held off installing it on a 2010 iMac because of the obvious teething problems.

They've issued the first major update which hopefully has caught most of the teething problems.

Lion is perfectly stable for me now. I was expericing a lot of crashes at first but that seems to have been down to a third party kernel extension.

I'm still considering whether or not to go for it. Have 2007 Macbook and 2008 iMac. Mostly use Office 2004 for college work and haven't really given Pages a fair hearing. I presume if you upgrade, your bootcamp stuff will remain in tact as it's essentially system refresh, rather than a clean install. If my memory is right from when I went from Leopard to SL.

Yeah, your Bootcamp partition won't be affected. Even if you did do a clean install, provided you only wiped the OS X partition, it wouldn't be affected either.

Thanks, I think know how to select that...had a bit of a mishap with something the last time, self-inflicted. :o

Would you see a clean install as a necessity?

    Not unless you have problems.

Thanks SP. Just a little bit worried going for it, as the iMac is working perfectly for me. I don't think I'm technically competent enough if anything goes wrong. Thus the nervousness.:o:)

If you are unsure it might be wise to wait until 10.7.3. Most of the bugs will be sorted by then.
