Must be that time of the month lads.Ann Marie Hourihane published yet another mediocrely written diatribe. This time however, she was completely taken apart by a random poster in the comments section. She must not have much support in the IT if they allow her to be publicly humiliated.

You're probably the only one who's read the comment, or gives a shít, for that matter.

I like that article, if only for her use of the word "subnormal". It's my favourite insult. As in "you subnormal fúckhead".

That is such a poorly written article, it would be rejected for a college newspaper. I know I might be out of touch there days because I rarely read weekday newspapers, but is that honestly the standard of Irish Times writers now?

Does anyone out there under 70 actually believe any of that about single mothers though?

Her idea of drowning single mothers has some merit.
We could try it on a Pilot Scheme. See how it goes.

So you posted a comment over there and now you came here to boast about your stunning argument?

I see five pages of support and then your post on page six Ben

I like your thread title though

ffs absolute garbage article, she as actually taken credibility away from her side by writing it IMO. We got that crap earlier in the Indo now this in the times.

    Must be, "lad".

"Hysterical feminist" definition - n. Woman whom a small but vocal group of angry, bitter, unthinking men disagree with; Woman who expresses a point of view in a forthright manner rather than keeping her mouth shut.

She's arguing against what isn't being argued by jumping to hysterical conclusions:
Next thing you know single mothers are sending their black children out to loot shops and burn cars. Is there no end to the female urge to destroy the social order wherever she finds it?
Nobody is arguing that mothers sent their children out to rob. What people are arguing is that the absence of a father can have a tangible impact on the upbringing of a child. Good fathers are a good authority figures and good teachers in respect to their child's behaviour. Mothers can be too, but the absence of a father does have some form of an impact. A lot of children manage to overcome it. Many don't though.

People get incredibly defensive at the suggestion that it would be ideal for children to have a strong father figure in their lives.

all these feminists need is some cocaine and a good ride

Ok, the "hysterical" bit I suppose is fair enough - it's just the laziness of "feminist" as a perjorative.

But to be fair, people making the point that the lack of a male role model can have a detrimental effect on a boy growing up, especially in a tough-ass area, aren't necessarily demonising single mothers. It's a valid point IMO.

OP, start a blog if you want to push an agenda, what ever that may be.
