I've not seen a review of the new AT but the AT2 was popular in the UK. BF Goodrich AT's are still reckoned to be the best and Cooper Discoverer STs get good reviews too.

EU law is forcing manufacturers to redesign tyres to cut down on noise hence the new tyres appearing on the market. I doubt if General will produce a new tyre that is inferior their old one but both are still available in the UK.

I had ordered a set of BF Goodrich T/A KOs from a bf dealer but was told could take two months to get them in, I also found out they cant do the T/A KO in the proper size for the land cruiser they offer a higher profile 265/70R17 instead of the OEM 265/65R17 which they say fits no problem, but would definitely have an effect on your speedo and possibly brake performance.

Have General Grabber AWs on one of my Discos and cannot fault them on or off road, could not get the ATs at the time. However, just put Toyo Open Country ATs on the other Disco and they do seem better already, although only about a thousand miles so far.

I have ordered a set of them off discount tyres in Blanch E160 each fitted due to get them on Sat. Looking forward to see how good they are, One thing I did see is that the ATs have lost their severe snow service symbol (mountain Flake) which may have a bearing if we have as bad a winter as last year.

That's not a bad price fitted.

Tyre guy on another forum this evening said something similar about the tread being less coarse.

They dont seem to be available in your size, but I've just gotten a set of Hankook Dynapro ATM RF-10 (now that is a serious name) for my frontera.

Very impressed with them on and off road, particularly on road, they're quieter and grip better than the road biased Nexen's that were on it. Off road I havent tested them much, but in basic field stuff I have yet to engage 4wd. some slippy grass conditions coming this weekend methinks which will be a good test.

On road I'd say they're better than the AT2s I had on my last frontera although it's a while ago now to be making direct comparisons.

Had them from camskill.co.uk inc fitting, balancing and disposal for €108 each in 245/70/R16 dunno how they'll wear, but for the price they're pretty damm good so far.

BFG A/T's are allegedly the Dogs B*llocks but need to be ordered in advance.

    No experience of the Generals.

Way back when I was involved in serious off road the tyre to have was Michelin Xsomething series, cant remember thr exact model designation.

    Cheers

Michelin XZLs are the current military tyre and akin to an MT tyre.

Will bow to your superior knowledge sir.

I have BFG A/T's on the Pajero and they are as quiet as the tyres on my Golf.

Just to update on this thread, I have the general grabber ats now fitted fair bit of waiting and messing around with the distributor but finally have them, First off I think they look great no picture on the web does them justice. Only driven on dry mac so far but excellent handling, braking and no noise at all off them.

    Hi Zacmorris

I got my tyres in discount tyres in Blanchardstown as a special order. Still have that set fitted many thousands of kms later! I am sure the moderator police will be delighted an old thread came back to life!

It's not that much of a zombie thread, merely sleeping! Good to hear you happy with the Generals. Zac, go round your local suppliers, someone will get them in for you at a decent price.
