200€ would get you a second hand galaxy s, which would blow the rest of these out of the water imo.

A HTC Sensation can be got on Meteor on a 12 month contract for €30 per month (or an 18 month contract for €25 per month). The phone itself will cost €99.99 if you order through FatCheese.ie

If you get the other half's phone on Meteor too, you'll not use any of your 200 minutes/200 texts allowance contacting her.

I have the HTC ChaCha and I am loving it. Before, when I had other smartphones like a Nokia 5800 or a Sony Ericsson x10, I always found myself using the laptop to access the internet if it was even remotely convenient. The ChaCha is the first smartphone I have owned where I will happily use it over the laptop to get online. If you find touchscreen keypads annoying and fiddly, then the ChaCha is the device for you.

My only issue with the ChaCha is that the Facebook button is redundant for me. Also, I would have happily paid more for a device with a better camera, FM transmitter, more RAM, etc.

For the record, my wife has a ChaCha too and she's as in love with hers, as I am with mine. Did I mention that the ChaCha comes with the latest version of Android pre-installed, or that it has wi-fi, bluetooth, GPS, and you can tether it to your laptop in order to share internet? :D

I am not really much of a games person to be honest. I have played Angry Birds, Toss-It and Robodefense on it and the ChaCha handled them fine. The ChaCha would be fine if you played games less than 30 minutes a day. As for apps, I have quite a few on it, Shop Savvy for finding best prices, official Twitter app for Twitter, GMail app for mail, Livescore for football scores, Meebo for instant messanger, Whatsapp for online chat with friends, etc. The only issue I have had is with the Skype app often going beserk (which is apparently supposed to be buggy anway). The size of the screen doesn't really bother me, it's more important for me to be able to type quickly and more punctually than to have a fuller-sized screen.

What's the most important use-case for you? Do you find yourself mostly browsing, or looking at the screen, or would you be a more active user of the keyboard? The most important criteria for me in a smartphone was that the browser was very quick to open and easy to use, that I could type messages or e-mails extremely quickly and punctually, I also wanted multi-touch zoom.

The big minus with this phone is that the camera and RAM in the phone are only really average (it is a mid-level phone in fairness). Like I said, I would have happily paid more for money to get Samsung Galaxy 2 technical specs under the hood. Battery is decent enough, I can get two days out of a charge by turning off wi-fi when not in use.

Seriously though, when choosing a phone, you have to pick something you are comfortable with. When I was buying my last phone, I almost went for a Blackberry simply because all the reviews blabbed about how it was technically superior to the ChaCha. When I went to use the browser on the thing, I found it took twice as long to do anything on it compared to the ChaCha.

My thoughts are that you should go into the shop and try out the ChaCha against the Wildfire with a list of tasks you would commonly do on a phone. Just go with the device that then feels right to you.
