I got a letter today from my Social Welfare Office saying my JSB is ending soon and i got the form to fill out for means testing.
I just want to know how many weeks i have before it stops?
Was talking to a friend of mine who was on the same boat and he kept getting it for a number of weeks before it stopped from when he got the letter i got.
    Thanks.

the letter will have told you how many days you have left. divide that number by 6 and you will see how many weeks left. Apply for the JSA as soon as possible because that may take in excess of 6 weeks to process.

Where on letter would it say how many days left? As it doesn't say.

Go to your local sw office and they will be able to tell you. Letters are usually issued 12 weeks prior to benefit exhausting but that may not always be the case.

Well while you are waiting for you jsa to be processed you can go to your community welfare officer and apply for supplementary welfare allowance.

Be sure and fill out the form you got asap and return to sw office in order for your jsa to processed

Hi I got the same letter today. Doesn't job seekers benefit last for a year? Mine is not due to finish until the end of December.

It depends on the total number of "a" class contributions. I can be 234 days or 312 days of benefit.

JSA is means tested and can take longer to process so send the completed form back asap in order that your means can be calculated and you should have a smooth transition from benefit to allowance.

Thanks for the reply. I was in full time employment for 11 years so I hope I have enough contributions paid. Doubt I'll get JSA due to my situation which I won't go into on here.

Sounds like you will have 312 days alright and that the form for jsa is being sent out in order to give plenty of time to process. You should still apply for jsa as you might qualify for some payment.
