Hi Tones, looking up deals for this myself at the moment, was down there on the Friday and said the same thing to myself! Rang Scotts Hotel in Killarney and they quoted me €250 based on 2 people sharing for the following in the middle of Sept:
    • 2nights B&B plus 1 evening meal
    • Round of golf on Kileen Course + Round of golf on O Mahonys Point course(intertwines with Kileen Course)
If you here of anything better than that let me know, but I will definitely be heading down there soon!

If you had next weekend free there is a great deal. There is an Am-Am on there and Tralee on Saturday & Sunday. I just saw it in The Examiner today. €100 for the two days. You play Kileen on one day & Tralee the following day. It's a team of 4 event. Short notice I know but good value all the same.

I played there on Sunday as part of an exchange day with my home club. Following the round I was left a little disappointed. My expectations were probably set a little high due to the Irish Open being there a few weeks back. Looking back now a few days later I'm beginning to appreciate it a lot more.

It's a very difficult trek. Bring a good few golf balls with you. You will being home with less than you came. The opening holes along the lake are pretty cool. I'd suggest leaving the driver in the bag For the first two par 4's.

Stand out holes are the par 3 10th surrounded by water with the mountains in the back. I ran off over the back and my ball just held on. Very close to getting wet. There is a long par 4 on the early on the back 9 where you have to walk back to the elevated tee box. It's a really a strong par 4. Can't remember exact hole it was. The closing hole is pretty challenging. There was a baby deer just standing beside us teeing off which was different. I hit the fairway with my drive and was still left with a rescue in to the green. Great hole with a bit of pressure as no doubt there will be a few watching from the clubhouse overlooking the 18th green.

Get a par saver in the clubhouse before your round. It'll be worth the money. There was none there the last day. The girl in the pro shop said they had to order new ones due to the course changes as a result of the Irish Open.

Hope this helps you a little. Enjoy.

I was down there for the whole Irish Open promoting our event there next year. The course is one of the most stunning places I have ever seen to play golf. I too would love to play it after seeing the Pro's make the game look so easy.

I suggest you all come play our Amateur Team World Cup of Golf June next year lol www.worldcupofgolf.com
And if any of you do decide to go to Killarney this year I have some half price 4 ball vouchers for Dooks Links 30 instead of 60.

As said earlier, theres the links and lakes challenge this weekend(Tralee and Killeen) for 100e.....Tralee is an unreal course.
    theres also this deal http://www.killarney-golf.com/index.cfm?page=specialoffers

as another previous post said, leave the driver in the bag til the 5th,you dont need it til then!Keep the ball straight off the tee and you should be fine, theres no hidden danger:D
Walk back to the blue tee when you get to the 4th,its spectaculor(presuming your not going to play off the blues anyway?)
Its a great driving course off the blues,if you play during the week off the whites you may feel a little cheated as they will be pushed well forward and will appear as a very handy course.
The greens are only fair at the moment,id say since the open the staff have relaxed a bit:rolleyes:
    Enjoy it anyway;)

I used to play it alot years ago when I played golf regularly. It is an excellent course, way ahead of any course in Cork, with a possible exception of Old Head if you like that course. Mahoneys Point is a nice pleasant course too, but not as challenging or interesting as Kileens.

I played there shortly before the irish open. Lovely course. I was paired with an American scratch played. He went around in +1 off the blues having never played there before. I was impressed...

    Will definitely play there again.
