Hi. A front crown has reached the end of it's life and my dentist recommended that I should get an implant. As I live in drogheda, I could easily travel to Newry/ belfast to get this work done. I have a Dental plan with VHI for years (never claimed anything of it). If I go to the North, can I claim of VHI? By the way, I probably need to get a few new crowns aswell even though they are not causing me trouble at mo (My Dentist said that since they are c. 14 years old they are reaching the end and if I am getting implant done, i should consider doing them all to match colour, shape etc)
Anyway, what is your opinion? Should i go to the North? Anyone got work done there before? Any dentist you would recommend?
    Thanks!

I suppose the question is whether you want to visit a specialist or not. The specialist you would require is called a prosthodontist. If your dentist feels you need one they will recommend one for you. If you dentist thinks its easy enough or there is not great aesthetic demand a general dentist can do the treatment. Be lead by your trusted family dentist.

Specialists in NI are few and far between thanks to years of the NHS ruling to roost. Prices tend to be cheaper in the South for specialists and implant treatments. A similar thread here http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056263052
