Please can you recommend any good pubs / clubs in castlebar, there are 18 of us (30 year old) coming from the North in a few weeks time for a night out!! people are now telling me not to go to castlebar but westport? is this right, is there any good nightlife in castlebar? please advise. thanks

In fairness to them it has improved vastly in the last 6 months with 3 rooms of different music on a Saturday Night.

Also, Finbar Hoban puts on Gigs in Mulroys bar ritz about 1-2 times a month. The next one is on the 27th of August - http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=202434169809650 Have had some great nights up there

Other than that you have the Royal theatre where they put on larger gigs http://www.theroyal.ie/

There are plenty of pubs on Linenhall St (Bosh, Coxs, Buckos, Barone) who have DJs on a Fri/Sat night. Also, McCarthys on Main St have a great Jazz session every 2 weeks....will post more if i think of it

Choice is in the TF. Sometimes you will get free into the niteclub if you attend a show in the theatre. Some nights it is also free in before 12:30.....

mon7979 I moved some posts out of another thread so you can have your own thread.

In my opinion Westport is better, I've been plenty of times and it's a nice wee town with plenty of things to do.
Matt Molloy's bar is usually a big hit with hens and stags.
