Hi all, I have been interested in buying the O2 money card because it seems very convenient and safe.

My main usage with this card would be for online purchase on websites such as ebay etc. using paypal.

But I want to know from you guys who had used this card before if there are any problems and such.

Sorry if this question has been asked too much.
    Thanks!:)

Why not get a debit card from a bank such as Permanent TSB or Ulster Bank?

I agree with trevor, you can link your details to paypal but still have the privacy setting where buyer can't see your details?

I use this card and I have had no problems with it, it's like a pay as you go credit card but without the high interest rate. I used to have an mbna card and the interest every month was killing me . Now if I don't have the money on the o2 card I can't use it which has saved me buying a lot of stuff I don't need

I don't know, there seems to be an awful lot of charges and costs involved, but i suppose it is a little better than the 3V card. See here http://www.o2online.ie/o2/uploads/pdfs/o2-money/O2-Money-Tarriffs.pdf

There seems to be a bit of snobbery towards these cards on this forum, people suggesting getting a visa debit card with some of the other banks, thats fine but what if you never banked with them before perhaps people are lucky to be still banking with there present bank not alone looking to open an account up with another bank.

My credit card got scammed a few years back while paying money to a goverment agency so after that i lost all confidence buy online,i have tried the 3V card but what a bad system that is,but this o2 money card has changed things for me ok you pay to load money on the card but its your own money, not the credit card company.

I for one think they are a good idea let it be a person that cannot get a credit card from their bank or for some one that doesnt want to use a credit card.

its not snoberry, i just find it easier without having to go buy vouchers anytime i wanted to buy something.

Thanks for the replies. I'm still quite tempted to try out this card, the fees are not that bad since I'm only going to use it occasionally. And I'm never going to withdraw money on the ATM using this card or moving money from my card to a bank account. Plus I can only spent as much as the amount in the card.

Anymore opinions would be appreciated :)
