Samsung Galaxy Ace - Gingerbread

I am getting this phone soon (meteor). Has a gingerbread update been released for it? And if not, does anybody know when will it be released?

I asked on the Meteor forum but it seems they should change their moto to:

"Meteor - Talk to us . . . we wont respond . . . but still talk to us"

Still waiting on a reply on the meteor forums.

Set up a fake twitter account to ask them on that, they said they'd "get back to me on that".

So i am to assume that it is not out yet and wont be any time soon.

I can be got through flashing a FW in ODIN but that will void warranty. I've no idea on when Meteor plan to launch it. Even after Samsung launch it, meteor will take longer as they wish it add their own elements to it, so I wouldn't be holding my breath.

Finally got a reply from meteor.

They said that they have approved the update but its up to samsung when its released.

I thought the network apporving the update was the thing that usually delayed the release? Or am i way off the mark??

If you flash a stock Samsung ROM then it wont void the warranty AFAIK.
If you flash a custom ROM then your warranty is void.

Is there a date?
I went into a meteor shop to look at the Samsung Galaxy Ace and Mini, thought it was good they were available in the shop with real phones, as opposed to dummys, but both were PUK locked. I asked and they said, a guy was coming out to fix them?? you'd think they'd have the codes under the desk, they didnt seem too bothered really, went back a week later, still the same. Now I went from a potential customer to walking away from them. I usually shop around every few years. I'm planning on staying put anyway, so poor customer service def.

The person on twitter said it was up to Samsung when to release it so meteor couldnt give a date (altho it took me 2 days askin on twitter and there forums to get a proper response, so they probly just said that to stop me from askin)

Im getting the phone regardless, but it would be nice to know!

Yeah i had to set up a fake twitter account to ask them to get sum1 to answer my question on their forum, poor customer service!

I saw it available on 3 about a week ago as well, but haven't updated yet, as I am using Link2SD, which would be lost, meaning I'd lose ~80% of my apps. Might run a Titanium backup and then try it.
