I cant lock doors in my 02 lx ford fiesta, either with remote or key , the only way I can lock car is when other person turns key in other door at the same time.
Does anybody know about how much will that cost to fix and what might be the problem? Thanks
ps: there was a problem with closing rear doors, but I think it has nothing to do with locking as it was more mechanical then something with electrics.. also there is a red light saying doors are open or other that doors are locked, when they arent. :(
I am afraid its gonna cost much. ?

I had a similar problem with a car refusing to lock even though all the doors were closed. Every time I tried to lock using the fob (which also turns on the alarm) the doors would lock momentarily and then open again. I went around to each door and found the little black plastic button that get pushed in when the door closes and is connected to the central locking. I figured that one of them must have been sticking/not connecting properly. I was able to disassemble them to a point and clean them, gave a good blast of WD40 to get rid of any water that might have crept in and that fixed the problem. Turns out, it was the passenger front door in my car. I held the plastic button in with my finger and tried to lock the central locking. When I jiggled it a bit, it would sometimes lock.
Might be worth trying before bringing it to a garage. I've no idea of the Fiesta has the same but it must have something similar.

    Best of luck with it.

    Mark
