is a career objective/career summary essential??

    i'm a university student looking for work experience in the publishing/museum work/library work/ area because of my history and literature course. Is a career objective at the start of my cv necessary? i can't think of one.

    Yeah, I would definitely put a career object/career summary like a profile summary at the start of your CV regardless of work experience and qualifications you have doesn't matter what field you are in or want to get into its worth having a profile like that so as to show off your achievements/success/skills (in this case your degree/qualifications), goals, direction and what you plan for the future career wise. Even stating you like to do further study or you'd like to work abroad, or stating your hopes to do internships with a certain industry you are looking to work in.

    Here are examples in the following links which might be useful but suit the profile to suit you, your background, education, qualifications, field you wish to pursue and what you hope to do to achieve it further.
