No belt loops - help

I bought a gorgeous skirt online and it just arrived. Its perfect except it is a little loose around the waist and it has no belt loops.

So I need to get it taken in, or perferably have belt loops added. Last time I went to an alterations shop it took a few weeks to do the work - as far as I can remember I got pants taken up. And I need the skirt for the weekend.

Is there any way I can get this problem sorted quick. I'm rubbish at sewing. A shrinkage in the dryer could do maybe but then I don't want it to shrink in length. In a bit of a pickle indeed.

Could you make belt loops yourself? It wouldn't be that difficult and the belt would take away from any mistakes you make.

If you don't trust yourself sewing, you could always ask a friend to do it for you. For someone even moderately capable at sewing it would be a pretty quick job, easily done in a day if you just supply some matching fabric. I'm sure if you have a friend who can sew with a bit of time on their hands they wouldn't mind.
