Really hope the Pool &/or Snooker teams go ahead this year. Was quite frustrating not having any last year :/ The guy that was on the contact sheet never got back to me when I texted him either.

im hoping the organiser of the golf club has left college/left the golf club and a new person is organising it this year.

it was horrible how they treated new players last year...

looking forward to joining again this year, but under new management...

    fingers crossed!

I played the first game (practice round) in Waterford Castle, had no interest in going back. Didn't play too bad either, but apparently it was same ol' shít for the golf society. All the best friends stuck together for the normal team.

    Heya,

I would like to quickly anounce that the WIT Poker Society is back again this year after the massive success it was last year. We will be hosting our first game of the year in the Dome Tuesday week.
It will be more then likely our standard 10e + 2reg. Im not sure what the rules are about posting our facebook page, But im gona go ahead and post it anyways -> http://www.facebook.com/pages/WIT-Poker-Soc/102398329867067
(Mods, If this is breaking any rules, feel free to remove the link)

I would prefer if people could refer to the fb page, as this will be our main source of contact throughout the academic year.

Please be aware, The sign up dates to the society are on the 26th and 27th of September, And are mandatory to attend any of our hosted games.

This year we will be handing out goody bags to anyone who registers to the society, Courtasy of the lads at the Crystal Casino, And are definitley worth your time in cheeking them out.

    More details comming soon.

    WIT Hacking Society

Open to all with a curious mind, and an interest in computer security, programming, electronics, lock-picking, social engineering, etc.

The society has a 12 week course which will cover a broad range of computer security topics. The end of the year will include a capture the flag event. There will also be social events, hacking challenges, talks on a vast array of security topics, group projects and more.

There will be an information night very soon - details will be posted in the college via posters.

    Website: http://hackingwit.com/
    Contact: admin(at)hackingwit.com

I am not directly involved with this group - I gave a talk last year on SQL Injection and will be giving talks again. The lads involved are all top guys, and know their stuff.

Hey, I'm Captain of the Pool & Snooker Club in WIT for the year ahead. Glad to see the interest. I'll be signing up new members on the F corridor tomorrow from 11-3. If that doesn't suit, drop me an email @ foleyag11@gmail.com. Cheers.

Just to let everyone know that the society is now up and running for the year ahead. Sign up tomorrow on the F Corridor or drop me a mail for more info. The plan is to get a team entered into the Munster Colleges league once we see what the standard's like. Regular competitions and practise are essential so these will be held weekly.

    Talk soon,

    Andy :D

I have had a few people ask me about this to. At this time I dont think there is currently a dance society, or anyone running it. I know a few of the erasmus students were interested in setting it up for the year and had enquired but I have not heard anything else since then.

    The new WIT Young Fine Gael committee is up and running with their first debate. Its on their Facebook. I don't know much about what exactly is happening, as I am not really involved in the society due to college and work commitments. But ill pop along to this debate anyway;

"Its a seriously hot topic at the moment causing huge division - should the grant be cut, should registration fees be increased and college fees introduced? A massive protest in Dublin from students sent a strong and loud voice, but we want to hear YOUR thoughts in person. Come along on Monday, F02 at 7pm."

    Hi All,

The WIT Business Society has been reopened for 2011/2012. The new committee has set up a survey to gather feedback and suggestions from all students, no matter what their school is. Your participation would be much appreciated:

    http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/RXPVQ8M

The Business Society will be present at the Clubs and Socs day for both Main Campus and College Street.
Membership is open to all students from any school (that may seem a matter of course, but many students thought that because they were in Engineering, Health Sciences etc that they couldn't join).

We are planning a full and active calendar of events, both social and academic for Semester 2 of this year and even more next year. Your feedback and suggestions will be what we base our events directly on, so any and all is welcome.
