Burdocks has always baffled me tbh.

In my experience their product has always been mediocre at best but their reputation is probably the envy of many a chipper.

Thought that myself but was then told it was the one in Christchurch that actually gave it its reputation so tried and was amazed how good it was.

But just dont try it in Dalymount Park. Tastes like bitterness and bankruptcy :D
    Hoops Hoops!!

Like a League of Ireland Chipper vs. Serie A Italian opposition.

Its used to be tastier before they switched to the oil frier's.

I've not gone in there much in recent years. But they don't seem any different to anywhere else IMO. But I'm not much of a judge I'd rarely go to a chipper any more.

The fish in batter I've had in Dundrum branch is easily the best in the area, just saying. Roll on 29/8.

I have to agree, there is something quite artificial about most Italian chippers fish, you can't beat burdocks for fish and chips.

Dundrum one is very hit and miss.

Sometimes it's great, but sometimes it's been awful!

If you want to taste real fish and chips, go to Yorkshire. As a Dub who lived there for 30 years, here's why. They only fry and serve freshly fried fish and it's haddock. None of this refried crap and that includes Burdocks. They fry in pure beef dripping. Haddock is a drier and meatier fish than cod, so less soggy. I have never understood how it came to be, that us Irish would tolerate being sold "fresh cod" that was fried earlier in the day, or the night before.
I do admit that sometimes our Irish chippers serve excellent chips but they can keep their " fresh fish". One qualifier though, as an expert in fish and chips, the nearest I have found is Beshoffs, freshly fried but varying in quality. Incidentally, steer well clear of so called English chain Harry Ramsdens, here in Ireland. I lived almost next door to the original in Yorkshire and believe me Harry Ramsden would be turning in his grave!!
