Are you talking about Windows Server 2003 or Office 2003 or something else entirely?

To be honest it might be hard to get official copies... might have to get it from less reputable sites... should be fine as long as your license is all above board.

risk of viruses from these less than reputable sites? the license is fine

No worries, I figured it was Office :). This link might be some help. I realise the numbers given are for the USA and Canada but you may get a hold of someone knowlegeable on the phone (yes I know I'm being optimistic ;)) who can advise you of your options as a European customer.

You could also take a look at Open Office. It's quite similar to Office itself and unlike Office 2003 can export directly to PDF which can be handy.

In fairness Malice, OpenOffice didn't get the export to pdf until late 2003, and it was an inferior suite at that time, so given the choice between MS office and OpenOffice, the ability to export to PDF wasn't going to win anyone over.

OpenOffice has matured, and now MS has a Save to PDF Add In for the office 2007 products.

Fair enough, it is still free though ;).

The price is definitely a consideration, no question there. - I'd use OpenOffice at home every time before I'd pay for MS Office

OpenOffice is fantastic for a free something. Not that MS Office doesn't get some stuff right, but you'd want to have to use Office 50% of the time to invest in it. If we're talking the occasional use, OpenOffice is grand.

If your going down the free office pack route then ignore openoffice and use LibreOffice which is being activley developed where all the main devs left OpenOffice due to Orcale..
