    Hi,

I need to get an implant on a front tooth , but dont know where to go to do this.
Ive been reading on the internet, and some say you need 6/7 visits, and it takes 6/7 months for the whole process (ie: old tooth/crown pulled, and new implant fitted, and crowned).
However, a friend of a friend is supposed to have got it done in poland in a weekend, for 1/4 of the price?

Has anyone got an implant done in a different country for cheap? If so , please advise me, as i cant afford £2000-3000 , which is the rate in the UK?

    Jo

I wouldn't risk anything when it comes to an implant. If done wrong, you could completely destroy your bone. Cheaper isn't better. Get it done by someone in Ireland, that you can return to if anything goes wrong.

    Don't go to Poland.

thanks for that. Im beginning to think the same thing.

But what about the UK? Would this not be safe enough / as safe as ireland?

You could go up north - at least that way, it's only a 3 or 4 hour drive away at most. But keep in mind, saving money should never be a priority when it comes to your dental health.

You can get implants, dental work, medical procedures, plastic surgery etc cheaper in other countries and also you get low cost providers in Ireland. The question is do you want the cheapest job possible done on a front tooth or the best.

If you are determined to go to some cheap clinic where ever, just go, cause you wont get soothing words here to reassure you this is a good idea.

There are very good dentists in Poland however they charge similar prices to Irish dentists. The 1/4 price chaps tend to be the chancers. Ireland is actually usually cheaper than the UK. Also to muddy the waters even further there are specialists and non specialists in this area.

Remember you should require several visits.
Visit 1: Assessment with X-rays models etc. Discussion of treatment plan, need for bone grafts or gum grafts. Impression to make a temporary tooth.

    Visit 2: Surgery

Visit 3: Suture removal and check of healing.

Visit 4: After a period of months healing an second stage proceedure to uncover the implant. Sometime a temporary tooth is attached to shape the gums.

Visit 5: Impressions for the final crown.

Visit 6: Seating of the final crowns or sending back if its not correct.

You can cut corners, but personally I would not want corners cut when it come to a irreversible procedure like dental implants.

    thanks,

So , for a good dentist, in Ireland, what sort of money are we looking at...on average?

My old front tooths is already a crown, but gets infections - need it extracted and replaced with an implant.

Any idea on the average cost of this - or what should i be expecting - so i dont faint in the dentists whe they tell me!!

If you have infections you are might need a bone graft for a good long term result.
