York Ebor Meeting

Anyone got any strong fancies for this week at York?

For me I'm interested in 2 on Friday, Green Destiny and Hoof It.

Green Destiny hacked up over C&D in the John Smiths Cup and Haggas has never hidden his enthusiasm for this horse despite disappointing at both Ascot and Goodwood. Back on 'home' turf I expect him to go very well in a Group 3!

I've backed Hoof It on all his last 5 starts (4 wins :D) after seeing him being just touched off by Cheveton in a handicap at the end of last season. Has improved hand over fist this year and is 4/1 fav for Friday's Nunthorpe which looks a weak renewal tbh. Won't be inconvenienced by the drop back to 5f (they weren't sure he'd get 6f!!!) and his performance in the Stewards Cup was scintillating. Mick Easterby wouldn't spend Christmas so the fact they paid the supplementary fee says it all.

Coincidentally I ride both these horses and if I get the leg up on Wonder of Wonders in the Yorkshire Oaks I may have a little dabble on her too :D

Can't go near Hoof It. Wins a few handicaps and is favourite for a group 1 spring, that said it says how weak the sprinting division is.

Await the Dawn to be ridden by Joseph in the Juddmonte

Winning the stewards cup off 10 stone an OR of 111 is not just winning a few handicaps any horse that does that is clearly group class, Easterby has said he is for a while now.

Well Sole Power won it last year and his form going into the Nunthorpe was worse than Hoof It's form ;)
Tbh there is not much between the top Sprint handicaps and Group races, the sprinting division has been pretty poor for years!

He may well be group class but 4/1 for a group one for a horse that has never even ran in a listed race is crazy price for me.

Bapak Chinta is too short for me too, wouldn't be backing a 2 year old in the Nunthorpe

If one of us wins money on the Nunthorpe, the other won't Urban.

Hoof It and Bapak Cinta have it between them.

Not so sure. A big sprint over 5 furlongs couldn't be classed as a two horse race, could be full of hard luck stories.

Im going to go for Midday for the Juddmonte, he was a impressive winner of the Nassau Stakes and i think there will be a great battle in the last furlong and Midday will prevail, best price 11/4 with P.P, im gonna have 200 Eur max on it tomorrow.

AW GOD GET IT RIGHT LADS JESUS

Haha ano. I don't know what to make of the race. Await the Dawn is yet to face a true group 1 test. I've said it before,I would have liked to see him make the Champion last back end. Very unexposed though.

It's hardly uncommon though urban, Dream ahead won a G1 on his second start after his maiden and he was only 8/1. It's happened countless other times too. Big sprint handicaps aren't far off Group sprint races. It's a poor division.

Sorry baraca I should have been more specific.

I mean for an exposed horse to go from handicap company straight into being favourite for a group 1. The other scenario frequently happens.

Ah come on convert, you know what I mean.

Everytime someone does it its a matter of minutes before someone jumps in to correct the mistake, it's just a force of habit to say he rather than she.

Go through the forum and see how many times someone says she rather than he, that will prove my point.

    BC is out now.

I haven't had a bet in it so no skin etc.

Shame though, would like to have seen him run in it. Don't think I will have a bet in it at all as it happens.

O'Brien's horses have been awful today, I won't give up on Furner's Green just yet tho!

Difficult to fancy Vita Nova or Crystal Capella today. I'll give Wonder of Wonders another chance, now that the price is right. Pity Snow fairy doesnt run, soft enough group 1 by the looks of it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,716 ✭✭✭✭thesandeman

I think Crystal Capella has a great chance. The softer ground should suit. Dont know what price now but I was delighted with 7/2 earlier.

3.40: Three-year-olds have won seven of the last twelve renewals of this Yorkshire Oaks event, stats which include three of the last five contests. Seven favourites have prevailed in the last fourteen years, though just two of the other seven market leaders secured an additional toteplacepot position. Last year’s 85/40 favourite Sariska refused to race which contributed to last year’s decent toteplacepot dividend.

    My favourite horse of the summer is running today;

3.40 - Masamah. Won 3 of its last 4 starts at decent prices as well. Ground is a huge concern today as well as being up against Hoof It but I'd be mad not to do it. 8s in most places right now.

    2.30 - Caspar Netscher

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 173 ✭✭GMROCKS

    im going for Prohibit 3.40 10/1 shot.good distance n ground.class not bad.
