I'm not sure if a PLC course qualifies as second or third level. If second, you need to be on a social welfare payment for the past 3 months. If third, you need to have been claiming for 9 months. If so, you would be entitled to it. It's mean tested in the sense that you get the same amount you are getting on your current social welfare payment, ie, I got €188 a week on the dole, so BTEA gives me the same.

I am fairly sure you are not eligible, as you were being paid by FÁS for the last year and a half and technically Social Welfare close your claim while you are partaking of a FÁS course. I was just down there yesterday getting my form stamped for a course in Finglas and the lady told me my claim will be closed on the 22nd, my first day on the course. So I don't think you have the 3months needed to qualify. Also, even if you did, it is means tested. Girl in my last course ended up getting 25 a week which was cut down to 12 during the new year.
