I'm now entering accounting third year have to say its a good laugh.

    1. No not really. All of the notes will be available online. So all you have to do is print of the lecture notes. Many rent books out of the library so be sure to do it fast as they move pretty fast. Most of the work is done on paper and extra notes can be taken down into a notepad. In my class of about 60 about 5 or 6 use a laptop not a necessity in the class rooms.

    2. Yea unfortunately you will have to do presentations but not to worry most of the time it is a group project and you can take turns or you can be really smart and befriend a outgoing person and let them do all the talking :D. In the two years I've been there I've had two presentations to do. Just remember everyone is in the same boat and most of the time it is only in front of ten or less people never the whole class.

    3. Don't worry about making friends more than likely it will just happen. Everyone is in the same boat no one knows anyone. Just be nice and yourself and be open don't be afraid its grand and as soon as the second week comes and freshers week begins you will begin making loads of friends. As you prob know the classes are fairly small so you get to know most of the people in the class on first name basis.

Everything will be grand you'll have a ball and good luck on Wednesday. Any more questions fire away i'll gladdy answer them for ye.

NCI is a joy to be in.

They have very up-to date computers there for you to use if needed. And as Back Prince said you can just print your notes.

You might not even have to do them in front of many people sometimes they'll take two or three groups at a time so you'll have to speak in a small room with 10 people at most. And you can do it in turns with the rest of your group.

Try to talk to somebody from day one. You will strike up a conversation with somebody and then just try socialise from their. You'll be fine.

    Good luck!

Had the same questions going through my head last year!

BEst advice I can give you is to be chill about it all. After the first 2-3 days you're flying.

You don't need a laptop as the college as loads of computers in labs and the library. Taking notes on an A4 is grand. In fact, only a few people use laptops to take notes.

Presentations, unfortunately, are a must. Everyone hates doing them so you're not alone! But it's normally in front of a small group (when it comes time to do presentations your lecturer will likely split up the class into manageable groups). Also in first year you're not expected to be any good at them!

And yeah it's easy to make friends and that. The induction day will settle you in nicely. Talk to a few people... last year they had a barbeque for us for lunch so you're all kept together for the day along with your peer mentors. Every single person there will know nobody and will be in the same position as you.

Any other questions feel free to ask!
