Some funny ones and some weird ones...

207 BC: Chrysippus, a Greek stoic philosopher, is believed to have died of laughter after giving his donkey wine then seeing it attempt to eat figs.

1814: London Beer Flood, 9 people were killed (some drowned, some died from injuries, and one succumbed to alcohol poisoning) when 323,000 imperial gallons (1,468,000L) of beer in the Meux and Company Brewery burst out of their vats and gushed into the streets.

2008: David Phyall, 58, the last resident in a block of flats due to be demolished in Bishopstoke, near Southampton, Hampshire, England, cut off his own head with a chainsaw to highlight the injustice of being forced to move out.

1993: Garry Hoy, a 38-year-old lawyer in Toronto, Canada, fell to his death on July 9, 1993, after he threw himself against a window on the 24th floor of the Toronto-Dominion Centre in an attempt to prove to a group of visitors that the glass was "unbreakable." The glass did not break, but popped out of the window frame

2005: Kenneth Pinyan of Gig Harbor, Washington, U.S. died of acute peritonitis after receiving anal intercourse from a stallion. The case led to the criminalization of bestiality in Washington state.

The first shot passed through his chest, but missed all of the vital organs. He reloaded and shot away his throat and part of his jaw. Breathing through the throat wound, he again reloaded, held the gun against his chest with his hands and operated the trigger with his toes. This shot entered the thoracic cavity and demolished the heart, killing him.[152]

This one is just weird....

1959: In the Dyatlov Pass incident, nine ski hikers in the Ural Mountains abandoned their camp in the middle of the night, some clad only in their underwear despite sub-zero weather. Six died of hypothermia and three by unexplained injuries. The corpses showed no signs of struggle, but one had a fatal skull fracture, two had major chest fractures, and one was missing her tongue. Tests showed that all of the hikers had been exposed to large amounts of radiation. Soviet investigators determined only that "a compelling unknown force" had caused the deaths.

Re: the guy who jumped through the window.

I read a bit more about this somewhere. Apparently, he jumped at the window and it didn't break, proving his point that it was "unbreakable". However, to reiterate his point, he jumped at it again. The glass panel had slipped from the frame after his first attempt so when he jumped at it a second time, there was nothing supporting the window and he went right through it. Madness.

2009: Vladimir Likhonos, a Ukrainian student, died after accidentally dipping a piece of homemade chewing gum into explosives he was using on another project. He mistook the jar of explosive for citric acid, which was also on his desk. The gum exploded, blowing off his jaw and most of the lower part of his face

- On 24 March 1975, Alex Mitchell, a 50-year-old bricklayer from King's Lynn, England, died laughing while watching the "Kung Fu Kapers" episode of The Goodies, featuring a kilt-clad Scotsman battling a vicious black pudding with his bagpipes. After twenty-five minutes of continuous laughter, Mitchell finally slumped on the sofa and died from heart failure. His widow later sent The Goodies a letter thanking them for making Mitchell's final moments of life so pleasant.
- In 1989, a Danish audiologist, Ole Bentzen, died laughing while watching A Fish Called Wanda. His heart was estimated to have beaten at between 250 and 500 beats per minute, before he succumbed to cardiac arrest.
- In 2003, Damnoen Saen-um, a Thai ice cream salesman, is reported to have died while laughing in his sleep at the age of 52. His wife was unable to wake him, and he stopped breathing after two minutes of continuous laughter. He is believed to have died of either heart failure or asphyxiation.

We'll never know what he found so funny...


On a serious note, from the OP's link, this one will haunt me for a good while to come:
2002: Richard Sumner, a British artist suffering from schizophrenia, went into a remote section of Clocaenog Forest in Denbighshire, Wales, handcuffed himself to a tree and threw the keys out of his reach. His skeleton was discovered three years later

I saw the video of his suicide and it is horrible. One of those things you wish you could un-see!
If you want to see it then just google his name and it'll show up on Liveleak. I wouldn't recommend it though.

it wasn't that bad. surprised at the amount of blood that flowed from his nose though.

Yeah I've seen a lot worse videos but I still thought it was horrible.

Yeah that was poxy.
I had a dvd a few years ago called "Banned from tv" or something along those lines, and it was about 2hours of fúcked up videos. Can't remember where I got it or even WHY I bought it but it was some pretty sick stuff. In the end I gave it to a friend who watched some of it, puked, and then threw it away!

Johnny Ace accidentally shot himself in the head with a .22 caliber pistol in 1954 backstage at a concert. Ace’s band members reported that he played with the pistol often, occasionally taking pot shots at road signs. He’d been drinking this particular evening, and after his girlfriend told him to be careful, he allegedly said “It’s okay! Gun’s not loaded, see?” before pointing it at his own head. As he smiled, the gun discharged, killing him immediately.

Jimi Heselden- Owner of Segway Inc.

"At 11:40 a.m. on 26 September 2010, West Yorkshire Police received reports of a man falling 80 fee into the River Wharfe, at the village of Thorp Arch near Boston Spa, apparently having fallen from the cliffs above.

A Segway vehicle was recovered and Heselden was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Investigators said, "At this time we do not believe the death to be suspicious" and were investigating as to "whether there was a fault with his particular machine or it was driver error"."

According to their statements at their trial, the four of them raped her, beat her with metal rods and golf clubs, introduced foreign objects including a light bulb into her vagina, made her eat cockroaches and drink her own urine, inserted fireworks into her anus and set them off, forced Furuta to masturbate, cut her nipple with pliers, dropped dumbbells onto her stomach, and burned her with cigarettes and lighters. One of the burnings was punishment for attempting to call the police. At one point her injuries were so severe that according to one of the boys it took more than an hour for her to crawl
downstairs to use the bathroom.

They also related that "possibly a hundred different people" knew that Furuta had been
imprisoned there, but it is not clear if this means they visited the house at different times while she was imprisoned there, or themselves either raped or abused her. When the boys refused to let her leave, she begged them on several occasions to "kill (her) and get it over with".

On January 4, 1989, using a loss at mahjong solitaire, the four beat her with an iron barbell, poured lighter fluid on her legs, arms, face and stomach, and set her on fire. She died later that day of shock. The four boys claimed that they were not aware of how badly injured she was, and that they believed she had been malingering.

On January 5, the killers hid her corpse in a 55-gallon drum filled with cement; the perpetrators disposed the drum in a tract of reclaimed land in Kōtō, Tokyo.
