I cannot get a signal now for RTE1,2 and TG4.
All my other UPC channels are ok.
Using the UPC Mediabox HD, anyone else experiencing this ?

All working fine here, just do a automatic channel search and they should all reappear.

Menu -> settings -> Network search.

I'm getting a similar issue, we have the Cisco branded HD recorder set top box.
Everything was working fine up until 2 days ago. Now some channels are showing as unsubscribed - which is unlikely as some are basic channels like Sky News in all packages. We noticed the reception is a ok.. like even the HD channels are fine.

We also have their broadband and that's working grand.

What is very strange is you can reboot the box and channels remain gone, but if you physically unplug it, some come back and others vanish. And this is where it gets really weird - you can't watch these channels, but you CAN record from them and then watch them.

    Anybody else experienced this?

Have an engineer booked to come out, but think the problem is not in here despite the media box behaving strangely, i suspect it could be due to the weak signal.. now around 30% and seemingly worsening in recent days. The customer support people in upc tried boosting the signal and re-scanning for channels - none of that worked.

Some channels still won't work at all.. TV3 along with all the HD channels now gone too. Lots of stuttering and visual noise artifacts on many too.

Anybody else had this, if so what solved it?

The problem is not in where?

It seems like a cable fault problem of some sort. What did the engineer do? Did he replace any cables or do work outside?

Did upc supply you with a cable to the white UPC wall-mounted socket box or are you using your own shop-bought one? The shop bought ones can be crap and too thin. Also the signal will be weak if the cable from that wall socket's too long to the TV. Like more than 4 metres.

Had the same problem with multiroom box, at one stage there were 17 channels with the "loss of signal" message. It's definitely (or at least it was in my case) a cable problem. I had just run a new cable around the room and once I tightened the connectors at each end, all the channels returned.

Sorry not in meaning not inside our home. Engineer replaced internal UPC wall box and connections outside the house and did some stuff in panels further down the road.
Cable to the tv is less than 4 metres, was just the cable they supplied - everything is bog standard stuff they supplied. But it had been working grand for a while. And the broadband comes down the same cable and that's been better than ever and never had any issues. I'd have expected that to suffer first and more so than TV if the cable was an issue. Anyway my contract is up and I'm moving to a combination of Freesat and Saorview. I'm utterly stunned by the sheer volume and quality of what's available free to air by terrestrial cable and satellite. If you don't watch Sky Sports, Sky Movies or Discovery and National Geographic etc - there's not a huge advantage in staying with the big two providers.
