FileType Icons

I'm on Vista at the moment, and I'm looking to change my 'filetype' icons. At the moment my music files such as MP3, FLAC, MP4, WAV, all have the same icon. This was easy in XP, i could just access the folders menu and alter them, but cannot find where to do this on Vista. I'm not looking to download any software to do this as I want Windows to do it.

    Thanks.

in Vista, there's no properties after right-click, just Personalise, and theres no Change Icon.

There is an option elsewhere to change desktop icons. But thats not what im looking for.

The icon is generally associated with the software player for the mp3 ect rather than the file it self.

True, Winamp allows you to select what icon you'd like (only for Winamp files). But if i was able to open up a dialog box in XP to change them, surely theres such a box in Vista.

had a read of that, but thats only good if the icons are already present on the PC. I read on another forum that Microsoft have removed the functionality i was looking for from all OS after XP, as apparently if was rarely accessed.

Lookis like i'll have to download some software to do it for me, that link you provided has another link for such software, so i'll give that a go.

    Thanks for the link.
