Fertiliser Spreader

    What kind of money could I expect to pay for a small tractor fertiliser spreader.Skint at the moment so just need a basic version, would only be spreading 2-3 tonne per year

    About €300 - €400 for a 6- or 7-bag Vicon, maybe less for a cracked/damged one needing a bit of fixing up (patching fibreglass is not too hard as DIY jobs go)

    Hire some neighbour to spread it, wont cost that much.

    yes contracting somebody to do it would be much better value for money

    I'm all in favour of owning your own machinery, and we were looking to buy a spreader earlier in the year, but when the tractor wasnt ready to go in time we got onto a local contractor and were shocked at the price we were charged, a fiver an acre! I've no idea how the contractor could be making money at that, but it'll be a long time before we buy a spreader I reckon.
