since I was anywhere near a steering wheel (almost 10 years). I had 3-4 lessons when I was 19 and then let things go due to college, etc. This was when no theory test was required. I bought the DTT book a few years ago, but again let it go. I'm now around 100 pages into it, though I have the '4th edition new and revised May 2009' version. I see from the DTT that they still seem to be on the 4th edition, albeit updated for 2010. Reading the FAQ thread on here it sounds like I'd be safer getting the most bang up to date version, yeah? I know some of the symbols and regulations, but will have to go through it a few times to gain confidence.

Also, re eye tests...I've not had one in about 3 years. I don't wear glasses ordinarily and have noticed that my sight isn't really what it used to be. I have a prescription, rarely use the glasses, but probably need to start using them and get a re-test. Re the learner's permit, do they query things much if you do require glasses?

I'd say you are fine with the edition that you have. I know the difference between the third and the fourth editions only concerned ten percent of the questions so the difference between the version that you have and the newest one is probably very minimal.

But I think you will need to get another eye test. If I remember correctly it needs to be dated within two months. You don't need to have perfect vision to be able to drive without glasses but your opticians will advise you - make sure to tell them its for your learner permit.

Yeah, as it happens, I've been noticing that re number plates, even though I'm not behind the wheel, I can't see them as clearly as before. Have gotten reminder letters from the opticians, so better get that sorted. Wouldn't have an issue wearing glasses when driving. About a quarter of the way through the theory book now.

Right, theory test booked for a month from now. Better check out the 5th edition of the DTT.

Is this the eye test formyou need and do you only add it to LP application once you pass the theory?

Most opticians will have the required form, they deal with it daily ;)
You can't apply for the LP until you've passed the theory anyway
