How come men, in general, don't wear dresses?

Would you wear them if it became fashionable to do so?

I wore a kilt once. The breeze was nice...

Because it's a garment designed to bring out a feminine figure?

Possibly the most metrosexual thing I've typed. Ever.

    I don't have boobs & I have a hairy barrel chest.

    Dresses don't really suit me.

Of course. In my student days, when mounting a taxi was considered a sign of unimaginable extravagance, I have even taken public transport wearing a dress, with lipstick smeared over my lower face. (Fancy dress party). Going there was fine, it was coming back on the tube, late at night wearing my Aunt's frock and a lady's hat that caused the aggro.

I'd say I have worn more dresses in my life than some of the lesbians I know. All for fancy dress or school plays though, never in a gender bending way (not that there's anything wrong with that, Joe)

If it became fashionable to do so, yes, I would wear a dress. There's nothing inherently wrong or worrisome in doing so FFS!

Ehh, why would guys wear a dress, when most times a dress is designed with a woman in mind. It's not like its going to show off a guys figure....kinda stupid question...

There's no reason why men shouldn't wear dresses -

(1)robes were very common throughout human history, only very recently have trousers become social requirements
(2)from a comfort, and possibly a hygiene or fertility standpoint, its far better to have your balls free and loose than tight and restricted, especially in the less flexible form of skinny jeans, for an example
    (3) if anything, therefore, trousers are more suited to women, who don't have to worry about complex and external machinery of the nether regions
(4)very few men mount horses anymore, or engage in any of the practices that made trouser wearing ideal in recent centuries - for guys like myself who sit behind a desk, and live very urban lives, dresses make perfect sense.

Lets face it, there is no rational reason why dresses should be socially acceptable for women but not for men.

Yes, I know, I honestly opened a beer after I wrote that. Now I'm trying to think hard about GAA.

Still I think it's true. The social acceptability rule exists, but it certainly is irrational.

    (2) I try to not spend too long thinking about balls. :p

    (4) But plenty of men ride motorbikes.

But most importantly, think of the hideousness of a man in a dress with big hairy legs covered in cuts and astro turf burns.

Probably about 50,000, in Ireland. Not really significant in a population of around 2 million penis owners.

I agree, but shorts, for example, are deemed perfectly acceptable.

Not totally, entirely, absolutely, perfectly acceptable. I'd regularly wear shorts on warm summer days in Ireland and sometimes hear shit like "Why are you wearing shorts? Do you think you're in Spain or something?" But that's about the extent of the disdain.

ugh, shorts haters. best thing to do with a shorts hater is stick on a pair of flip flops, and watch them burst into flames.

or just go up to your Mum's closet and shtick on a dress.

Yep wouldn't have a problem. I think would be best domthing fitted with ruffle shoulders. Sweetheart neckline would be great with it.

    Well you did ask.

Well you have to admit, a man wearing a mini skirt shows a lot of balls. :D

Just heard that on Arguemental. Wish I'd heard it a few days earlier, but timing's never been my thing when it comes to punchlines.

To be honest, I'd prefer to be seen wearing a flowery dress than a utili-kilt.

Everyone I've known to wear a utili-kilt has been a complete gimp.

My darling older sisters dressed my up when I was 6 or 7 in a beautiful dress with all the bells and whistles (a full make over to boot). Followed by pictures of course.

Over 20 years later I still live in fear of those damn pictures. I destroyed countless pictures over the years but it would seem they have the negatives. I refuse to attend family parties for they inevitable make an appearance and even in my absence they still make an appearance. Have these people no bloody lives
My sisters husbands and boyfriends giggle sheepishly when ever I make a manly comment and subsequently produce those damn pictures.

Mind you I looked damn good, by far and away the prettiest princess of them all.

So needless to say, with the existence of said pictures I am afraid I will not able to run in the forthcoming presidential election. ;)

I haven't found a dress that would remotely suit me. I've got hairy legs and no boobs. Would anybody like that, male or female, dare to appear in public in a dress?

No, good old jeans and shirt for me!

Men do not wear dresses for one reason and one reason only.

We know how big our bums would look in it.

    Well OP as Madonna said
"Girls can wear jeans and cut their hair short, wear shirts and boots, because it's okay to be a boy.

But for a boy to look like a girl is degrading, because you think being a girl is degrading". Now.
