Has anyone replaced clutch on their 3.0 trooper recently and if so how much is it likely to cost me?
How many hours labour would it take?
Should the dual mass flywheel be replaced at same time? They're bloody awful money Im told :(
My trooper has 120,000 miles on it.
    Thanks in advance.

Labour shouldnt be that bad, its not too big a job. You can split the transfer case from the main box, it makes it way easier to handle. There is a handful of bolts holding them together and they have separate oil supplies so you shouldn't get a spillage when taking apart.

When you have it apart check the free play in the flywheel, there shouldn't be much in it at all.

WARNING: if you are changing the flywheel there is no locating dowel and it can go back in 6 different positions. If you don't put it back the way it came off it wont start. There is a little half moon indent on the flywheel. Put this to the 6 oclock position before you remove. There is also a hall sensor on the back of the 'wheel that needs to be transfered to the new flywheel before you install that in the same position

Thanks slidey. Its a job thats beyond me, will be a garage job. How many hours would it take do you think?
Would it be normal to replace the flywheel as well on a trooper with 120000 miles or should flywheel still be ok?
Have been quoted €1200 all in to do clutch and flywheel :(
Jeep cant be worth much more that €2000.
Not sure what best to do.

If it didn't all of a sudden loose drive the flywheel is probably still ok. They do go but normally it happens all of a sudden and it will barely move if at all.

Its been a while since I have done one, 4 to 5 hours I'd say if all goes to plan

    That price sounds about right.
