You'd want to be seriously desperate for 'entertainment' to watch any of that crap!..same with almost everything on RTE actually.

I think overall we are, unfortunately.
I recently saw a video of a man's murder, taken by the murderers on a cameraphone, after it was mentioned a few times in a thread here.

I was absolutely disgusted while watching it, but it was only a long time later when I realised I'd basically watched a snuff film. At least it's the worst thing I've seen.

I'm sure an expert can explain things better than I think part of the popularity of such sites is due to the gradual normalisation of seeing images of violence, in real life (eg. on the news, in documentaries) moreso than in entertainment, as most people can compartmentalise that and not be as affected by it due to the fact that it's not real.

I think their popularity is simply largely due to basic human curiosity. The more they're made out to be outrageous and shocking, the harder it is to resist watching. For example, if you've heard of "blue waffle" but have never seen it, then come across a link to it, it's hard not to click on it.

People are curious by nature, I checked that site Mentalzero when you mentioned it. I'm sure others did also.

Agreed. I can't see why anyone in their right mind would willingly watch that kinda stuff.

    why are these sites available?

Because we live in a free society where we have freedom of speech?
are they illegal to watch and is there anything that could be done to get rid of them or should they be allowed to stay up,what do you think??

I honestly don't understand how anyone can advocate internet censorship. Do you WANT to live in a nanny state? If you don't want to watch that stuff then do what I do and close it. Neither of us have any right whatsoever to decide what other people are capable of stomaching.

I'm sure the weird medical conditions would be interesting to read just before diner :) I am slightly disturbed at even reading some of the descriptions of the videos though, what worries me are kids who watch those 'death videos' get desensitised to such carnage and violence.

Edit: Now i sound like Rev. Lovejoy's wife "Would someone please think of the children"http://jacob.efinke.com/helen.jpg

Those things just tear away at your humanity. Anyone who watches them needs to be put into a mental institution.

I wouldn't go near that mental case junk. seen enough human suffering in my life than to watch sick twisted f*cking garbage like that stuff.

anyone that gets off on that stuff really has a serious mental problem upstairs.

having a buzz with friends and a load of beers and maybe the odd cannabis bud with some great sounds makes me happy but for the life of me how anyone can get a kick off watching human beings suffer or die as well as been tortured is just insanity.

there's some f*cking twisted assholes out there.

There's some dark, dark **** out there in places it's impossible to get to without knowing the address, way worse than a lot of this. Was trundling along the 'net and came across a video of a guy, was just lying on the floor, then a boot was planted on his head and his throat torn out. Couldn't sleep for days after it.

A lot of people don't get a "Kick" out of watching them, some are like yourselves, a morbid interest. It's like rubber-necking an accident on the road. Stuff like 2 girls 1 cup all begins online where people try and think of the nastiest porn possible, then send it to a group who does requests.
