    Let me explain.

I want to prank my friend by sending him a link to some cool new BBC article or whatever, but upon opening it he is brought to another website altogether, say goatse for example :D.

Like this link seems to be for boards.ie but it opens on google.

    http://www.boards.ie

Simple to do on boards though... but I want to do it in Facebook or Google Plus.

    Is it possible?

Not directly as far as I know, they don't support any kind of mark-up scheme like forums tend to.

The closest you could do would be the use something like tinyurl to get a URL for it and give them that, but if they know what tinyurl is they'll obviously know somethings up (there might be more obscure sites with the same functionality though)

Yeah I was thinking of using tinyurl, but the friend I want to prank knows what tinyurl is AND he knows very well that he is due a prank from me... so he will definitely suspect the link.

Your sh1t out of look if you want to do this on Facebook or Google Plus..

This is a very common hacking trick so they won't let you do this.

If you can get onto your mates computer you could edit the hosts file (C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc) so that www.facebook.com takes him somewhere else :D

You sure this is a 'prank' you're not a phisher?

I assure you this is a prank.

My friend recently put goatse as my desktop background when I was away. If you know goatse then you will know the horror I went through when I opened my laptop as I was getting nice and comfy and ready to watch a movie. So I wanted revenge... that's why I posted this thread.

Anyway, I got him. I set up a fake tech blog, cos he's a bit of a nerd. I made a blog title that I knew would light his eyes up, and sent him the link, recommending that he check it out ASAP.

Well the only thing in the blog was a picture of goatse... hehe.

But I want more. If any of you can think of other ways I can prank him with this picture, please do tell!

That hosts trick is a bit extreme... but I think I'll do it!!! HE DESERVES IT!
