    Hi,

does anyone have any experience of whether it is possible to obtain copies of previous NCT reports on a car and if so to whom/where should I apply.
My reason for asking is to check recorded mileage on a car on the dates that it underwent previous tests

Afaik you can get the old cert but it costs 50 quid a cert iirc.

If you know anyone working for NCT they can easily get it for you.

I used to have a friend working in NCT, and few times before I bought a car, I asked him to obtain a report for me to make sure what the results were.

He said it was no hassle for him at all.

    I'm sure that's illegal though.

    How can you be sure?
Maybe it is. Maybe it isn't.
One thing is obvious - any NCT employee has access to all these certs.
Is obtaining them for any car in line with their employment rules - I don't know.
Even more sharing them with friend - I don't know.

I only know I had a friend which could do it for me. It wasn't any good friend, so I assume if it was bringing any risk for his employment he wouldn't chance it.

If I were to speculate, I'd say it breaks data protection laws. If it's not illegal, it should be.
That is not a condemnation btw. I would do the same myself if I could.
