TV Help - Will it meet my requirements.

Hi Folks,

First off apologies I'm an idiot

I'm based in Kilkenny and am looking to pick up a tv no bigger than 32 inch and no more than €400.

Within that budget my two key requirements are that

* I can connect my laptop to the tv and play DVDs on it. My laptop has a HDMI port. So I'll also need to buy a HDMI cable in addition to the tv.

* I've read bits about rte becoming digital in 2012 and i want to ensure that I can still use the tv when that happens to pick up rte without having to buy a digital box as well.

I've been looking at argos and this TV -> I know what I want but not sure what I should be looking for to ensure it matches my two requirements above. Does any one see an issue with this TV or should it be fine?

Flatscreen tech is not mature , it wont be for a long time , and to get any kind of a quality screen you need to stick with the main players.

That means Panasonic , Samsung , LG , and a very few others.

They hold all the patents on flatscreen tech , the likes of Alba are awful muck , and buying them from argos is worse again as your paying a premium for it.

What you want is acheivable under budget and from a main player , if theres a power city near you then go and have a look.

Similar deals to be had from the likes of DID , and so on , quality Saorview compatible 32 inch sets from Samsung , LG , etc. are all available for well within your budget. Dont waste money on sub standard rubbish like Alba.
