    A dark alien world (exoplanet) has been spotted.

    As large as Jupiter, it is 5 million kilometers from it's parent star and has surface temperatures of 1200 degrees. It is thought to be too hot to support reflective clouds.

    However even this does not explain why it is actually darker than coal.

    Further reports will be published in Monthly Notices from the Royal Astronomical Society.
