    Howya,
need some advise if at all possible please.

I set up a facebook group which covers the Waterford Junior League soccer scene at the beginning of the year.

I'm now hearing through the grapevines that the committee of the Junior League are very unhappy about it and some of the content that's on it.
My question is would i, as founder of the group, be held liable for what do be posted in the group and could the committee of the league bring legal proceedings against me because of it.

    Cheers for looking :D

If there is defamatory material posted and you, as moderator, allow it to remain there you leave yourself open to a possible civil case.

    No.

You need to delete all content as soon as you become aware of it's nature.

When people sue (as in your hypothetical situation) they tend to take a case against ALL parties. This may include the club (if a member sues), the poster, facebook and you along with anyone else concerned. It'll the be up to a judge to decide the liability element of each party and apportion it accordingly.

But I'd worry more about as to your responsibilities as page owner and facebook terms and conditions. On your page, go to Account, on the left click Facebook Adverts. You will see a statement on photographs but click on Learn More to see their policies on ALL IP content (intellectual property). It's been buried here for a reason but part one in the first paragraph should be enough to chill your bones. Facebook say they do not take ownership but they are assuming rights (both intellectually and commercially) of your content.

If they sold your photo that appeared alongside an article on club sports in a distasteful magazine for example, your members could sue for not having given permission. This is a long shot of course it has been suggested they are harvesting content at present.
