    Looks like it could be some kind of army competition medal.

    There appears to be hallmarks on the back, which look rather worn.

    Luthcleas means "athletic"

    an airm cumann means "the army association"

    cumann luthcleas an airm was the Army Athletics Association. It's the DFAA now AFAIK.

    comortais= competition

    oiliuna= training

    coorp= I'm going for body here

    an airm= the army so it was an All Army competition

    ruaitoair foirne= Team selector would be my guess

    I'm thinking it's All Army Physical Training Competition, Team Selector
