Just saw on Facebook that Calvin Harris is playing the Helix on September 21st for the Orientation Ball :D:D:D

I was already really looking forward to going back, but now I am actually really really buzzing for it!
(Just pray to god I get my course :P )

Anyone else really happy about this?? :pac:

Yeah, he's much better when with his touring band, but it's still Calvin Harris like! :)

Looks like there's not gonna be much room for first years at it. Already over 800 people replied on facebook at attending (I know it's only facebook) but gives a good indication usually.

All details are on facebook and I presume the SU website/twitter.

Having myself being a huge critic of the rubbish acts we are usually served in DCU, this represents a huge change for the better already.

Lets hope this year, they continue to get acts such as Calvin Harris.

Most things organised for orientation week, Balls included will be over 18s if theres a bar, as its much easier for them to check ID at the door, than have the bar slowed down checking ID there, sorry.

Is there ANY chance of incoming students to get any of those tickets???

Is there a Freshers Ball and an Orientation Ball?

    Definitely casual!
It's a rubiks cube themed night, so there'll be loads of clothes swapping I'd say! :D

That and then freshers ball the week after!!! :D:D:D

Of course there is. Tickets go on sale on the 12th of September I think. First come first served as always.

My point really is the orientation ball is usually attended by a huge majority of first years, with the odd second year and older going to try get the easy shift.
But now with an actual decent act on, older students are far more interested in the Ball now, so demand will be much higher.

It is always a possibility to get into the helix though without a ticket. They operate a smoking area (usually) at the main enterance, surrounded by a small barrier with only one bouncer gaurding it.
I've seen many people get in over this fence with some ease !!
