Skiing?

Ok so myself and my girlfriend are just back from holidays and we're depressed! So we've decided to try book a week away somewhere maybe around late november, ( give or take a few weeks). I don't want to just go and lie by a beach in Spain or anything so we were thinking of doing something a bit different.

Neither of us have ever been skiing before so I thought it might be an idea. But I'm just wondering how to go about it. Where is the best place to go to? Who is the best tour operator to use? What sort of insurance do we need? etc etc.
I'm just a bit lost about it at the minute. Any help is much appreciated.

I'm also open to other suggestions as to an alternative type of holiday that doesn't have to be skiing. I would be only looking at a week or 10 days max. And I don't have a fortune to spend! :pac:
    Thanks in advance!

(Mods if this is in the wrong place, feel free to move it) :)

After further investigation it seems the ski season is later than I thought so now we want to head skiing at the end of Jan/start of Feb.
I still am no further on knowing which is the best place to go and which tour operator is best, and insurance needed etc etc
    Can anybody help??

Have a read over at the winter sports board

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=881

Lots of info and advice there for newbies to skiing.
